Fang Zheng, the commander of the Jiao-zhou Rear Guard, who had been despatched by the Feng-cheng Marquis Li Bin, regional commander of Jiao-zhi, to pursue the bandit Li Li, came across him at the Mang-xin River in Laos. Zheng defeated him, upon which Li fled.
