Previously, Gao Xiang, the police officer of Ping-xiang dong in Annam, had memorialized advising that Men San-gui, the subprefectural magistrate of Si-ming Subprefecture had plotted to kill Huang Guang-ping, the prefect of Si-ming Prefecture. Guang-ping found out in advance and killed him. He then claimed that San-gui had died of illness. As he had spoken falsehoods, the Court had Guang-ping arrested for investigation. At this time, he arrived. The Emperor spoke to the Ministry of Justice, saying: "It is in their nature that the man and yi fight with and kill each other. It is only because of the untruths he spoke that Guang-ping should be subject to the law. However, I am specially pardoning him, so that he can reform himself." It was subsequently ordered that he be given travelling costs and sent home.
