Hong-wu: Year 3, Month 9, Day 30
19 Oct 1370
The minister Yi-die-na-wa-li-sha and others who had been sent by Bie-li-ti, the king of the country of Xi-yang, came to Court. They presented a gold-leaf memorial and offered as tribute a panther, four "tula" quilted coverlets, eight "man-zhe-di" patterned coverlets, four bolts of "pi-ti" (Alt: "pi-zhe-ti") cloth, three bolts of "gao-ni" cloth and two bolts of "sha-ma-da-li" cloth. Previously, Liu Shu-mian and others had been sent to make known the proclamation advising the Emperor's accession to Xi-yang and other countries. At this time, Xi-yang had sent its minister in the company of Shu-mian to come and offer tribute. Because he had sent his envoy such a vast distance across the sea, the Emperor conferred upon the king munificent gifts of patterned fine silks and silk gauzes interwoven with gold thread. He also conferred upon him the calendar Da Tong Li. The envoys were rewarded with fine silks and other silks as appropriate.
