The minister Yang Bao Mo-he-ba-di Yue-wen-dan, who had been sent by A-da-a-zhe, the king of the country of Champa, presented a memorial and offered tribute of local products. He also advised that the pirates Zhang Ru-hou, Lin Fu and others had declared themselves "commanders" ( ) and engaged in plunder on the seas. The king of the country had thus attacked and defeated Ru-hou and so on, who drowned in the engagement. Also, he captured 20 of their ships and 70,000 jin of sapan-wood and these, together with the pirate follower Wu Di-si, were presented by the king. The Emperor was pleased with this. He ordered that 40 bolts of patterned fine silks and silk gauzes interwoven with gold thread be conferred upon the king, and that two bolts of silk gauzes, four bolts of patterned fine silks, a suit of clothing and 12,000 copper cash be conferred upon the envoy. Appropriate rewards were also conferred upon the attendants.
