Imperial instructions and general's seals were conferred upon border generals. The Qian-guo Duke Mu Sheng, Grand Mentor and Yun-nan regional commander, was given the seal of "General for Subduing the South".....The Rong-chang Earl Chen Zhi and the Commissioner-in-chief Fang Zheng, Jiao-zhi assistant regional commanders, were given seals of "Deputy General for Subduing the Yi"... Those who had old appointment orders were required to seal them up and return them.
