Hong-xi: Year 1, Month 7, Day 15
29 Jul 1425
The military household person Ren Ben and others had castrated themselves in order that they could be employed. The Auxiliary Minister of Rites Lu Zhen advised of this. The Emperor said: "When my Imperial father was on the throne, there were also men who castrated themselves. Because they had committed an unfilial act in harming their own bodies, they were all banished to Jiao-zhi. Now, people still dare to do this. They are also to be immediately banished in accordance with the regulations. You are to again clearly make known the prohibition. If any others transgress in this respect, they are all to be treated like those in my father's reign."
