Wang Ya, a former proof-reader in the Editorial Service of the Household of the Heir Apparent, was appointed as an examining editor in the Han-lin Academy. Ya had previously been involved in a crime and had been banished to Jiao-zhi. When the Ren-zong Emperor came to the throne (1424), he was concerned about his old minister and sent an envoy to call him back. At this time, he arrived. The Emperor said: "The former Emperor greatly valued this man." Accordingly this order was issued.
