Hong-zhi: Year 18, Month 8, Day 14

It was ordered that Xu Mu, a reader-in-waiting in the Han-lin Academy, go as chief envoy and that Ji Shi, a supervising secretary in the Office of Scrutiny for Personnel go as deputy envoy, and that they proceed to the country of Korea. It was also ordered that the Senior Compiler Lun Wen-xu go as chief envoy and Zhang Hong-zhi, a supervising secretary in the Office of Scrutiny for Revenue, go as deputy envoy and that they proceed to the country of Annam. Each mission was to carry a proclamation advising of the Imperial accession as well as Imperial orders. It was Imperially ordered that biao-li of ramie-silk and decorated velvet brocades, as appropriate, be conferred upon the kings of these countries and their consorts.
