The government troops of Fu-jian and Guang-dong pursued and attacked the pirate Wu Ping in the bay of Mt. Wan-qiao in Annam, greatly defeating him. Previously, after the defeats at Yang-jiang and the battle on the Wu-zhu Sea, Ping fled to Annam. The Military Superintendent and Vice Minister Wu Gui-fang ordered the Wan-ning Pacification Office in Annam to mount an expedition against him, and also sent the Assistant Regional Commander Tang Ke-kuan and Fu Ying-jia of the regional military commission with a ship-borne force to join with them. They attacked Ping in a pincer movement below Mt. Wan-qiao. In the evening, a great wind sprang up and our army used fire to attack, burning the ship on which Ping sailed. Ping's force was greatly defeated. The number who jumped into the sea and drowned was incalculable, while the number of bandits captured and heads taken by the government troops totalled 398.
