The Ministry of Rites memorialized: "The interpreter Cheng Hong and others from the country of Ryukyu advised that, on returning from the Court after offering tribute, they wished to go to the country of Siam to buy sapan-wood and other goods. They met unexpected winds along the way, their ship was damaged and they are now unable to return to their country. They wish to use the variegated silks and other goods which were conferred upon them to purchase wood and to engage workmen to build a ship in which they can return home. Their request should be allowed and we should send a despatch requiring the three offices of Fu-jian to allow them to build the ship themselves, but not to allow them to disturb the troops or the people." This was approved.
