The Censor Mou Feng, regional inspector of Yun-nan, memorialized: "The Nan-ning Earl Mao Sheng, grand defender of Jin-chi/Teng-chong, has acted avariciously, tyrannically and illegally on tens of occasions. It is said that Sheng is the remnant spawn of "animals" (犬羊餘孽) and is unscrupulous, crafty and evil. He has also had dealings with the various yi on numerous occasions. I am afraid that this will give rise to calamities on the border." It was commanded that the Yun-nan regional commander and other officials investigate the accusations.
