The Ministry of War memorialized: "The Yun-nan Grand Coordinator Liu Shi-zeng and the grand defender have advised: `The Mang chieftain usurped the ruling position in Pegu and annexed the various yi. Recently, the yi have been subject to Heaven's majesty and they swiftly returned to right. Now, only Laos, Ba-bai, Meng-gen and Meng-lian are still hesitating. Of these, the Meng-lian Chief's Office was originally just subordinate yi. Then a seal was conferred upon it and it annually offered tribute and provided silver in lieu of labor. Later, due to the Mang chieftain's violence, it gave its allegiance to the outside. Now, Dao Pai-zhen, the seal-holding member of the native-official family, has repented his mistakes, come to allegiance, sent elephants and requested to be allowed to surrender and offer tribute. It is requested that he be allowed to send officials to present the two elephants offered in tribute, that Dao Pai-zhen, the ruling native-official family member , be richly rewarded and that the due heir be investigated and be allowed to take up the position of ruler, so as to strengthen the outer feudatories. Also, the achievements of the Regional Vice Commander Deng Zi-long should be recorded and he should be richly rewarded." The Emperor approved this and rewarded Dao Pai-zhen and Deng Zi-long with appropriate amounts of silver.
