Wan-li: Year 33, Month 5, Day 22
7 Jul 1605
The yi official (Alt: senior official) Wei Da-li of Lu Subprefecture in Annam was allowed to redeem his crime and begin anew. Also, it was ordered that the chieftain Zheng Song strictly reform himself and no longer engage in attacks. Previously Da-li had listened to the rebellious chieftain Lu You and others and had been drawn into attacking Si-ling, capturing the native official Wei Shao-zeng and carrying off his seal. The Supreme Commander Dai Yao and the Grand Coordinator Yang Fang memorialized: "We received Imperial orders requiring that the chieftain Zheng Song, as well as Lu You and so on, all be captured and presented. Da-li was frightened and immediately sent back the official seal. When the government troops advanced and eliminated Lu You, Da-li received orders to protect a strategic route. He also captured the spies Nong Bu and others, a total of 18 persons." The supreme commander and grand coordinator advised that he had repented his crimes and obeyed orders and thus requested that he be leniently spared death. This was approved.
