It was commanded that Zhang Ming-shi be arrested and sent to prison. Ming-shi was the assistant regional commander of Lin-an/Yuan-jiang in Yun-nan. Previously, in the Jiao-gang campaign, Bai Lin, a member of a native-official ruling family, and Zhang De-sheng contended for territory and engaged in feuding and killing. Ming-shi received orders to investigate and instruct them. However, he improperly assisted De-sheng, massacred Jiao troops and advised victory....The Emperor ordered that he be arrested and that the Army-Inspecting Censor and Assistant Administration Commissioner Kang Meng-xiang be removed from his post and await investigation, while Yang Jun-chen of that circuit and the Supervising Judge Xu Yao-zi be demoted as appropriate.
