The Mu-bu and other yi of Yun-nan gathered together in a gang and engaged in pillage in the region. The government troops took no more than 1,000 heads (Alt: 10 heads). However, 760 other men and women were killed in the process. Mu-gua (Alt: Mu-bu) and other places were put to the torch, men and women were debauched and humiliated and property was plundered. The scene of carnage was truly tragic beyond words. On verifying the facts, the grand coordinator inspector advised. The Emperor ordered that the regional inspecting censor question and punish the Vice Magistrate Zhang Si-xian of the subprefecture and also that those of the government forces who had suffered be shown sympathy and be appropriately rewarded.
