Li Shi-mian was re-instated in his post as a reader-in-waiting in the Auxiliary Han-lin Academy. At the beginning of the Hong-xi reign (1425/26) for offering unwelcome advice, he was transferred to chief censor of the Jiao-zhi Circuit. Later, several days after the Ren-zong Emperor died, those in charge had Shi-mian placed in the Embroidered-Uniform Guard prison. At this time, the Emperor heard that Shi-mian was a man of letters and thus he was released and re-instated in his post.
