Imperial orders were sent requiring the further deployment of 1,000 men of the Wu-chang Escort Guard, 1,200 men of the Cheng-du Escort Guard, 10,000 of the crack government troops from Nan-jing who had formerly been sent to the Western Ocean and 33,000 troops of the Central Metropolis Regency, Hu-guang, Zhe-jiang, He-nan, Shan-dong, Guang-dong, Fu-jian, Jiang-xi, Yun-nan and Si-chuan Military Commissions and the Fu-jian and Si-chuan Auxiliary Military Commissions. These troops were to accompany the An-yuan Marquis Liu Sheng and the Qian-guo Duke Mu Sheng in the expedition to Jiao-zhi.
