The Da-hou Chief's Office in Yun-nan was raised to Da-hou Subprefecture, and the native official Dao Feng-han was appointed as subprefectural magistrate. At this time, Dao Feng-han had memorialized: "Many man people here have resumed their occupations and 250 liang of silver is paid annually in lieu of labor. The two chiefs offices of Wan Dian and Zhen-kang have few people, pay only 100 liang of silver each, and yet, during the Yong-le reign (1403-24), they were both raised to subprefectures. It is requested that, in accordance with the precedents provided by the other two administrations, the same be conferred upon Da-hou." The Emperor instructed the Auxiliary Minister of Personnel, saying: "In Da-hou, many people have resumed their occupations and their chief is capable in governing them. We should raise the grade of the office to reward them." Accordingly, this order was issued.
