Xuan-de: Year 9, Month 10, Day 11
10 Nov 1434
It was ordered that Lin, the son of the deceased Li Li, who was formerly in temporary charge of the affairs of the country of Annam, continue to take temporary charge of the affairs of the country of Annam himself. Previously, Li Li had died of illness. The attendant minister Li Cha and others had placed Lin in temporary charge of the affairs of the state and had requested orders from the Court. At this time, the attendant minister Ruan Zong-zhou and the elder Dai Liang-bi, who had been sent by Lin, presented a memorial notifying the request. The Emperor ordered that the Vice Minister Zhang Chang and the Messenger Hou Jin take Imperial orders and proceed to instruct him. The orders read: "In the past, in consideration of the fact that the troops and people of Annam are all children of the Court, I bowed to the people's wishes and ordered that your father Li temporarily take charge of the affairs of the country, so that he could soothe and take care of them. Now your father has died and I am especially ordering that you take on temporary charge of the affairs of the country of Annam. You must respect and accord with the Way of Heaven, be loyal in serving the superior and benevolent in your treatment of those below. In this way, you will maintain peace within the land and long enjoy your position. Respect this!" Travelling expenses were conferred upon Chang and so on. Paper money was conferred upon Zong-zhou and the others and they were instructed to return home in the company of Chang.
