Initially, as vice commander of the Jing-zhou Escort Guard, he accompanied the expedition to Jiao-zhi. In breaking through at Po-lei and Ai-liu and in taking the city of Duo-bang, as well as in the attacks on the Eastern and Western capitals, he realized achievements. After Jiao-zhi was pacified, he was transferred to the Chang River Guard. He continued to accumulate merit through battle and, for bringing people to surrender and allegiance, he was rewarded on several occasions.
