Yong-le: Year 5, Month 9, Day 8
8 Oct 1407
The person sent by Ma-zhe-su, the second son of Bu-la-lang, the deceased native official of Ava-Burma, came to Court and offered tribute. Previously Bu-la-lang had divided his land and given control of Da Dian (Greater Dian) to his eldest son Na-luo-ta and control of Xiao Dian (Lesser Dian) to his second son Ma-zhe-su. When Bu-la-lang died, Na-luo-ta took over all of Ma-zhe-su's land and people and Ma-zhe-su went to live as a dependant son-in-law with Ban Yang, the native official of Su-du-song. At this time, he wished to return to reside in Xiao Dian, and he sent people to the Court to advise of the situation. Imperial orders of instruction were sent to Na-luo-ta, saying: "You have violated your father's orders by driving off your brother, taking his land and seizing his property, resulting in him having nowhere to return to. You should follow the ways of filial relations and friendship, change your ways for the better and return all of the land and property which you obtained from your brother. You two brothers should maintain good relations like before. In this way I will be pleased with you. If you do not do this, Heavenly disasters and human misfortune will befall you and it will be too late for repentance!"
