Yong-le: Year 6, Month 12, Day 6
22 Dec 1408
Ha-ha-hong (Alt: Dao Ha-hong), who had been sent by his elder brother Dao Jiao, native-official prefect of Meng-gen Prefecture in Yun-nan, offered tribute of elephants and gold and silver utensils. The Ministry of Rites advised: "Dao Jiao previously raised troops and attacked neighbouring areas. He is guileful and not sincere. The tribute should be refused." The Emperor said: "When the man and yi are able to repent and come to Court, it is pleasing indeed. The previous events are not sufficient to warrant severe castigation." It was ordered that paper money, brocaded fine silks and other silks be conferred upon him.
