Zheng-de: Year 3, Month 10, Day 12
4 Nov 1508
The Ministry of Rites memorialized in response to the Senior Interpreter Wang Xi: "Bai-yi, Ava-Burma and such native-official pacification superintendencies in Yun-nan, are required by the regulations to come to offer tribute once every three years. However, now none of them come. We should send despatches to the grand defender and grand coordinator, requiring them to spur these offices into coming at the required frequency." The Emperor said: "There are old systems governing tribute and taxes from the native officials, and they must not become disordered. The grand defenders and grand coordinators of the various provinces are to be advised of this."
