The envoys sent by the country of Annam were coming to the Court when their palace official Ruan Wen-li and others died of illness en route. The attendant minister Ruan Zhuang requested that a boat be conferred upon them and that escort troops be provided to send them home. This was approved. It was also commanded that the relevant office provide funds for coffins and funeral clothing and that sacrifices be offered to those of the deceased who held official posts.
