The retired Minister of War Xu Xi died. Xi (zi Meng-xi) had his origins in Jiang-yin County, Chang-zhou Prefecture...In the xin-you year (1441/42), there was an expedition against Lu-chuan. It was ordered that Xi supervise ration grain. The bandits plotted to attack by a side-path and burn or carry off the ration grain. However, Xi urged the native officials to send troops and they defeated the bandits. The grain was thus able to be sent through. When Lu-chuan was pacified, Xi was promoted to Minister of War....
