Zheng-tong: Year 12, Month 5, Day 25
7 Jul 1447
It was ordered that Zhao Sai, the younger brother of Si Ji-fa, be appointed as chieftain, and given a monthly grain salary and housing and that he be attached to the Embroidered-Uniform Guard. His followers were all given work as elephant trainers. Previously, Si Ji-fa had sent Zhao Sai to the capital to confess guilt. The Emperor ordered that they reside at Yun-nan. At this time, the gang member Juan Meng-che had again gathered yi people together and engaged in rebellion, and they had been killed and defeated by the government troops. Si Ji-fa also scurried away, but his whereabouts were unknown. Thus, Zhao Sai was called to the capital, in the hope that he could pacify Si Ji-fa.
