The envoy Ya-lie Lai-zhe from the country of Java, memorialized: "During the Yong-le reign (1403-24), I came to Court as interpreter and received great grace by having a silver belt conferred upon me. Now the king of the country has promoted me to Ya-lie (Arya) and I beg that a gold belt be conferred upon me." He also requested that his interpreter Huang Jing and so on be given silver belts.
