The Commissioner-in-Chief Wu Liang and the Eunuch Directors Wu Cheng and Ji Xiang were pardoned the death sentence. Liang and so on had caused losses to the military effort in the expedition against the Lu-chuan bandits and it was appropriate that they be executed. At this time, there was sympathy being shown to those due for punishment and the judicial offices were commanded to advise of names. The Emperor pardoned them all from death and demoted Liang to Assistant Commissioner-in-Chief.
