It was ordered that the Jing-xi Earl Jiang Gui take on the seal of "General for Pacifying the Man" and the post of regional commander, that the Vice Commissioner-in-Chief Li An take on the post of deputy regional commander of the left, that the Assistant Commissioner-in-Chief Liu Ju take on the post of deputy regional commander of the right, that the Regional Military Commissioner Gong Ju take on the post of assistant regional commander of the left, that the Assistant Regional Commissioner Ran Bao take on the position of assistant regional commander of the right, that Wang Ji, Auxiliary Minister of War and concurrently Chief Minister of the Court of Judicial Review take on the post of supreme commander of military affairs, and that they lead the Great Army in an expedition to punish the rebellious Lu-chuan bandit Si Ren-fa. Jiang Gui and Wang Ji were to first go to Yun-nan, to calculate the amount of military rations needed and to plan strategies. Li An and Gong Ju were to take command of the government forces from Si-chuan and Gui-zhou, while Liu Ju and Ran Bao were to take command of the government forces from Nan-jing and Hu-guang, as well as those from An-qing and other guards, and were to await orders of deployment. In addition, all were sent Imperial orders of appointment.
