Zheng-tong: Year 7, Month 2, Day 23
3 Apr 1442
The Minister of War Wang Ji, chief minister in the Court of Judicial review and concurrently supreme commander of Yun-nan military affairs, and others, submitted a memorial of impeachment, stating: "The Vice Commissioner-in-Chief and Deputy Regional Commander of the Left Li An was commanding the troops who were guarding the Lu-jiang grain route, but did not adhere to discipline. He allowed the Battalion Commander Xiao Liang and others to act recklessly in seeking achievements. They were thus defeated by the bandits and over 1,800 government troops were killed. It is requested that he be arrested, taken to the capital and that his crime be investigated." As An was about to return, the Emperor ordered that the Judicial offices wait until his arrival and then advise.
