Zheng-tong: Year 8, Month 10, Day 5
27 Oct 1443
The Jing-yuan Earl Wang Ji, Minister of War, and supreme commander of Yun-nan military affairs, and others, memorialized: "The chieftain Dao Long-zhou and others who had been sent by the Lu-chuan bandit's son Si Ji-fa to accompany his own son Ai-zhun, have arrived at Jin-chi and announced their surrender. We discussed the matter and then sent the followers back to instruct Ji-fa that he should place his heart at rest and not flee. Following this, the troops will be sent forward. We will wait until `frost descends' and then will advance on the bandit's lair." The Emperor sent instructions to Ji and the others, saying: "Do not treat the bandits lightly just because you think they are weakened."
