Imperial orders of instruction were sent to Han Gai-fa, the pacification superintendent of the Mu-bang Pacification Superintendency in Yun-nan. The orders read: "Recently, the rebellious Lu-chuan bandit Si Ren-fa opposed the orders of the Court. You knew how to accord with the Way of Heaven and sent troops to attack him. The Court has already conferred upon you orders of encouragement and reward. Now, you have offered tribute in gratitude for Imperial kindness, and presented captured family members of the bandit leader. Your loyalty is pleasing. I am especially conferring upon you biao-li of variegated silk, to reward your efforts. You should further demonstrate loyalty and be diligent in pursuing further merit. You should lead your tribesmen in eliminating or capturing the bandit leader and send him to the capital so as to bring peace to the borders. There will then be further orders of honour . We await your achievements. You are to exert yourself!"
