It was ordered that Yang San and Yang Si, military reservists of the Zhang-zhou Guard in Fu-jian be appointed as "chieftains" (頭目) in the Embroidered-Uniform Guard. Headwear and belts together with a monthly salary of two shi of rice were conferred upon both of them. During the Yong-le reign (1403-24), San and so on had followed their father who went on expedition to Jiao-zhi and was involved in defence there. Subsequently, they were detained there. At this time, they escaped and returned home. This order was accordingly issued.
