Cheng-hua: Year 16, Month 7, Day 22
27 Aug 1480
The Ministry of Personnel memorialized: "The chieftains Nai Gong and others from the two pacification superintendencies of Che-li and Laos in Yun-nan jointly memorialized that the interpreter Wang Ping had, over repeated years, realized achievements in going to the fan areas, and they requested that he be appointed to a post. Previously, the native-official Zhao Ban-ya Lan-zhang and others of the two offices had also spoken of this. Thus, this office instructed interpreters to carry out an investigation. It was found that Nai Gong and so on had no knowledge of the contents of the memorial. In fact, Ping had privately instructed people to do this for him and it was thus that the memorial was sent. A despatch should be sent to the Yun-nan Provincial Administration Commission requiring them to wait until Ping escorts the yi persons home, and then to deliberate on the matter." It was Imperially ordered that Ping should be pardoned and that the memorial submitted by Nai Gong and so on be shelved.
