Zhang Jin, deputy director of the left in the Messenger Office, was pardoned the death sentence and was banished to a border guard in Guang-xi. As Jin, when sent as an envoy to the country of Champa, took it upon himself to enfeoff Ti-po-tai, he was sentenced to decapitation. He memorialized five times disputing the charge. At this time, on examination of the case, he was pardoned the death penalty and banished.
