Yang Da-yong, a registrar in the Office of Transmission, was ordered to proceed to Yun-nan to train troops. At this time, the Bai-yi had repeatedly caused troubles on the border and the Emperor wanted to despatch troops to pacify them. Previously, the Xi-ping Marquis Mu Ying and the various commanders had been ordered to make plans for the border. At this time, Da-yong was sent to go and train troops. When Da-yong reached Yuan-jiang and other prefectures, the native offices asked for 50,000 troops to await deployment.
