Sha-na-wan-nuo-ye, who had been sent by his nephew Xia-wang, the king of the country of Bo-ni, led the chieftain Zuo A-lie* and others in coming to Court and offering tribute of local products. The Emperor spoke to the officials of the Ministry of Rites, saying: "These yi people have come far across the ocean and have gone through difficulties and dangers in travelling such a vast distance. The weather is now very cold. They should all be banqueted and rewarded. In conferring rewards upon them, you should be particularly generous." Possibly should read "Sheng A-lie". See juan 13.8b
