He Cong, a vice minister of the left in the Ministry of War, died...During the Ying-zong reign (1436-64), he received special attention. Melaka had requested enfeoffment and it was appropriate that Cong be sent as envoy. The office thus notified of his name. The Emperor looked to his advisers and said: "Why is this fine gentlemen, who is such an excellent memorial writer, to be sent as an envoy?"
