designated, it was ordered that Ai Pu, a director in the Ministry of War go as chief envoy and that Gao Yin-xian a Messenger in the Messengers Office, go as deputy envoy to promulgate a proclamation in the country of Korea, and that Shen Xiang, a director in the Ministry of Justice go as chief envoy and the Messenger Dong Zhen go as deputy envoy to promulgate a proclamation in the country of Annam. The envoys were to confer upon the two countries' kings and consorts variegated silks, patterned brocades and other goods. One suit of clothing was conferred upon Pu and each of the others. Just before their departure, Pu and so on memorialized: "In the past when envoys were sent to these two countries to officially read proclamations, the kings of the countries requested that the proclamations be left in their countries. It is hereby requested that orders approving this be issued in advance." This was approved.
