The Wei-guo Duke Xu Peng-ju, commandant of Nan-jing, and others memorialized a request to obtain the methods and artisan skills for making the Fo-lang-ji cannons which had been obtained by Guang-dong. The Ministry of War advised: "The cannons cannot be mounted on other than the centipede ships (蜈蚣船). Guang-dong should also be instructed to obtain artisans from Nan-jing to manufacture these." This was Imperially approved.
