The Emperor instructed the Ministry of Revenue, noting: "Ambergris has not been presented for over 10 years. The officials have been very idle and remiss. Have areas where it is recorded as being produced memorialize on whether it can be obtained." The Ministry of Revenue responded: "It is requested that officials be swiftly sent to Fu-jian and Guang-dong, to join together with the officials originally sent and to seek ambergris everywhere in the areas along the coast where fan ships trade. There should be no concerns about price. The officials who have been sent and the seal-holding officials of the three offices should have their salaries stopped as punishment. When they obtain the true aromatic, their salaries can be restored.".... In addition, one official was sent to Yun-nan to seek it...
