Tian-shun: Year 5, Month 2, Day 10
21 Mar 1461
Yin Min, the assistant commissioner of the left in the Office of Transmission; Wang Yu, a supervising secretary in the Office of Scrutiny for Rites; and Chai Sheng, the eunuch director of the Directorate of Ceremonial memorialized: "Recently, we were ordered to take a proclamation and orders of enfeoffment to the country of Annam and to enfeoff [Li] Cong, the eldest son of the deceased king Li Lin, as the king of the country. When we came to Heng Subprefecture in Guang-xi, we learned through investigation that Cong had killed the previous king Li Jun and then falsely stated that Jun had died while swimming in a lake. He then improperly requested that he be enfeoffed. The people of the country would not serve him and they had Lin's second son [Li] Hao take on the handling of state affairs. Cong has since committed suicide. It is appropriate that we should return." The Emperor said: "Yin Min and Wang Yu are to be instructed to return to the capital. Chai Sheng is to be instructed to send the goods they are carrying to the Nan-jing Treasury and to wait there for further orders."
