The Censor-in-chief of the Right Guo Ying-pin, supreme commander of Guang-dong/Guang-xi, requested that officials jointly investigate and make arrangements in respect of the border in the dong areas between Annam and Xia Lei, Gui-shun and other subprefectures. He noted that the areas should either be returned to Annam or that stone markers be set up defining the border, so as to end the squabbles between the two sides and to clearly distinguish between the Chinese and the yi. This was approved.
