The Yun-nan Grand Coordinator Liu Shi-zeng memorialized: "The various yi native-official ruling family members and chieftains who were previously intimidated and coerced by Mang have swiftly reverted to right and have joined forces in opposing him, taking many prisoners and heads. Without having to conscript or transfer troops, the 100,000 men in the forces of these yi houseman and chieftains have acted as our great wall. They should be promoted and rewarded at levels above the usual standards." The Ministry of War re-submitted the memorial, noting: "We should await an investigation before implementing the recommendation." An Imperial order was issued, noting: "First issue the rewards and then deliberate on liberal arrangements and memorialize."
