The Minister of War Tian Le memorialized: "The Yun-nan Regional Inspecting Censor Zhang Ying-yang has advised that the rebellious chieftain (Alt: bandit) Meng Ting-rui of Shun-ning Prefecture was cruel, tyrannical and evil. He dared to raise troops to assist Feng Xue, the rebellious chieftain of Da-hou Subprefecture in rebellion. They attacked and pillaged the subprefectural seat and burned bridges. The government troops proceeded against them and eliminated them. The areas are now at peace...."
