The Vice Censor-in-chief of the Right Dai Yao, supreme commander of Guang-dong/Guang-xi military affairs, memorialized: "In the 12th month of the 35th year (Jan/Feb 1608), over 700 Jiao-zhi bandits entered through Long-men Port and suddenly surrounded [the seat of] Qin Subprefecture. After pillaging they departed. This was the result of the various officials failing in their duties. They should, under the law, be thoroughly investigated. They should also be required to write self-impeachments for their crimes of failing to defend the border regions." The memorial was sent to the Ministry of War.
