An Imperial proclamation was issued to Annam, as follows: "My Imperial father with supreme benevolence and vast virtuous power, took on the Great Undertaking, observed the Imperial patterns and restored government and civilizing influences in order that the country would enjoy long-lasting harmony and peace. Unfortunately, on the third day of the first month of this year (31 Jan 1435), he passed away. His final orders required that I inherit rule of the Empire and, on the 10th day (7 Feb 1435), I ascended the Imperial throne, declared that next year will be the first year of the Zheng-tong reign, and proclaimed a general amnesty for all under Heaven, so that all can begin anew. This is especially proclaimed as it is considered that you should be informed."
