Imperial orders were sent to the Qian-guo Duke Mu Sheng, Grand Mentor and regional commander, as follows: "The people sent by Hao, the male descendant of the Chens of Jiao-zhi, and by the chieftain Li Li to present a memorial, offer tribute of local products and admit guilt, as well as the scattered government troops and cavalry they have sent back, have now reached Guang-xi. The government troops under the command of the Cheng-shan Marquis Wang Tong as well as the grand defenders, the Court and other officials, and the officials and clerks under the three offices have also all returned. When these orders arrive, you are to immediately order the Xing-an Earl Xu Heng and the Xin-ning Earl Tan Zhong to both return to the capital. You, minister, are to lead the government troops under your command in returning to their respective guards and battalions. You, minister, should put all your efforts, day and night, into providing careful border defence, so as to accord with the importance of the task with which you have been commissioned."
