Yong-le: Year 1, Month 8, Day 8
25 Aug 1403
Imperial orders were sent to Hu Di of Annam. The orders read: "I am lord of all sides and I manifest Heaven in my rule. If something is out of place, I swiftly give instructions to those at fault. Champa has said that your two countries are neighbours and that you have repeatedly raised troops, attacked their territory, robbed their people and made off with their valuables. The people of Champa have been brought distress by your pernicious evil. The territories of the two countries have been handed down from the earliest ancestors, and both regard the Son of Heaven as their lord. How can you rely on your strength to transgress across the border? Those who engage in evil suffer calamities. The ancients gave this clear warning. However, the prior events are now forgotten and you will not be subject to investigation. From now on, you should protect your territory and look after your people. You should cease hostilities and foster friendly relations. In this way, your two countries will both see prosperity. Respect this!"
