Dao Teng, who had been sent by his father Dao Ping, the native-official prefect of Zhen-yuan Prefecture in Yun-nan, came to Court and offered tribute of horses. Previously, Zhen-yuan was a subprefecture and Ping was the subprefectural magistrate. In the fourth year of the Yong-le reign (1406/07) Ping realized achievements in following the expedition against Ba-bai and subsequently the subprefecture was raised to a prefecture with Ping as prefect. At this time, he sent his son to express gratitude for Imperial grace.
